Shepherds Crook GSD was founded in 2012 upon the purchase of Hoky z Perštátského Mlyna, a purebred German Shepherd from the Czech Republic (where she was trained in Schutzhund to the title of IPO2) and brought to the United States by Carol Weddle and Bruce Darrow, owners of Shepherds Crook. Carol and Bruce have been married for years and love spending their time with their patients, their friends and family, their horses, and of course, their German Shepherds. Bruce is a board certified OB/GYN, and Carol is a board certified Nurse Practitioner. They have dedicated much of their already busy lives to breeding and raising the highest quality of dog possible, and assuring all dogs and puppies they sell are given only to the best and most responsible of homes. Carol and Bruce are both equally involved in the raising, training, and caring for of their dogs.
Shepherds Crook GSD strives to bring impeccable European working German Shepherd lines to the United States. Currently, on site, Shepherds Crook has three female German Shepherds, one of which is a breeding female, Hoky. Young Heidi and Kaylee, the other two females, will not be bred until they have been fully trained and have earned desired working dog titles that best suit their personalities. Off site in Indiana, Shepherds Crook GSD has Nitro, a male GSD being trained for Schutzhund by the world-renowned Schutzhund trainer and international competitor Mike Diehl, owner of Diehl's K9 Training Center, LLC, and local police K-9 handler. Nitro will stay in Indiana until he has been fully trained and titled, at which point he will return to Shepherds Crook to continue training, and begin use as a stud dog.
Carol and Bruce are both very active and full members of the Krieger Working Dog Club in Norman, Oklahoma. Several times a month, they travel to Norman with one or two of their female GSD's to work on training and working towards titles. The Krieger Working Dog Club is a professional working dog training organization, with members focusing on Schutzhund, narcotics detection, tracking, police K-9 work, and more.
